Mission Scenario Proposition

I ran this by Rob and Susmita when we did the 2v1 and theys were diggin' the idea.

For mission type, there should be one that combines Kill Points as well as Capture Points/Objectives into a singular gameplay.

At the end of the game, each player's Kill Points earned as well as Objectives held are combined into a total score.

Player 1's score: 5 Kill Points earned, holding 2 Objectives = 7 Points total
Player 2's score: 6 Kill Points, No Objectives = 6

Trying to think up a good name for the mission type. Mayhem, Domination, Legendary.
We dont have to incorporate it into our dice rolling for game type every single time, but it would eliminate the need to roll for mission type lol. And its a little more realistic; an orc isnt going to just stand on one objective and not fight, a chaos space marine or dark eldar dont care about territorial gain.

We must uphold the violence!

  1. I SAY bring back the victory points.

This was a good way to determine victories besides Kill points.

I think Kill points will get removed in the next edition.

each objectivbe = 200 extra victory points

  2. I don't know anything about this victory point system Chris mentions above, but I kind of agree. I feel holding an objective should be worth more points than wiping out a unit. I assume victory points allowed for that. Men are expandable, objectives that supply for instance munitions, are not.

When they are worth even amounts, the offensive player may find it easier to pick off units one by one for KPs who are guarding objectives, when he doesn't really care about his own.

In this mission type, why not have objectives = 2 pts. and KP simply = 1?

Also, I'd argue that both Orks and Dark Eldar would indeed hold objectives.

Take for instance the Battle of Pscina IV, which featured my very own Master Belial when he was still only in command of the 3rd Company...

The Orks, commanded by Ghazghkull Thraka himself, specifically attacked the power plant of Kadillus Harbor seeking to use it to power their "tellyportas". Belial lead the counter attack on this objective.

In the end the Orks beat out Belial and used their tellyportas to flood the planet with reinforcements en masse (though the Dark Angels purged them from the planet when the rest of the Chapter showed up).

So, point one, yes they would try to hold objectives. The second point there is that holding that objective was WAY more important than just killing marines and the Orks were able to realize and focus on that.

The Dark Eldar are no different, surely they would not want to lose a slave world. That's why we have objectives and KPs. Sometimes it's just about killing, but not always.

  3. to quote the dark eldar section of the rule book

"These bloodthirsty corsairs care nothing for territorial gain or strategic positioning. Their pirate fleets exist purely to bring slaughter and misery."

    Yeaaaah! How bout that loremaster?

    i miss victory points

  5. Now that i think about it, if an objective was made of shiny things and slabs of meat, Orks could and would hold it without fighting (the enemy that is, not eachother)
